Kappy Gross is a financial planner who thrives on guiding clients from intention to action. With a passion for learning and a client-first philosophy, he believes it’s not just about understanding your investments—it’s about taking real steps that lead to lasting progress. He finds deep satisfaction in coaching clients to turn good intentions into tangible results, helping them move confidently toward their goals.

Kappy chose his career path early—earning licenses and certifications while still completing his degree. By 22, he was self-employed. While owning a business comes with its challenges, Kappy emphasizes that the rewards have far outweighed them. Building a team of exceptional people and experiencing many of the same hurdles as his clients has given him a uniquely empathetic and informed perspective.

For over 30 years, Kappy has led two synergistic firms: Heron Creek Advisors, a comprehensive wealth and planning firm, and Heron Creek Benefits, a full-service employee benefits agency. This dual leadership role has created a broad base of knowledge and often results in clients engaging both sides of the business for truly integrated guidance. Maintaining independence has always been a cornerstone of Kappy’s approach, allowing him to embrace the fiduciary standard long before it became an industry trend.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Insurance and Finance, Kappy has continued to expand his expertise through advanced designations, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). His lifelong commitment to education underscores his belief that great advice stems from both experience and continuous learning.

On the personal side, Kappy feels incredibly fortunate to have spent more than 20 years with his wife, Valerie, and son, Matt, who—along with their extended family—are the heart of his world. Their home is the go-to gathering spot for holidays, and Kappy and Valerie, both passionate cooks, love hosting meaningful meals for loved ones.

When time allows, he enjoys playing golf (still hoping those scores improve) and exploring new places. While they’ve traveled across the U.S. and the Caribbean, Kappy and Valerie are looking forward to finally checking international travel off their list. And of course, no home story is complete without Raleigh and MayBelle, the family’s beloved dogs—whom Kappy promises he loves just as much as Valerie does.
